Custom Drapery Options

Choose how your drapery looks, hangs and moves. We guide you through fabrics, heading styles and hardware as one complete design.

Floor-length white sheer drapery filtering light across a large sitting-room window

Sheer Drapery

Lightweight fabric softens daylight and adds a gentle layer at the window. Pair sheers with a separate shade or lined drapery when more privacy is needed.

Decorative Drapery Panels

Frame a view, add pattern or balance a room with panels designed primarily for decoration. We review placement and coverage so the finished design fits your goals.

Drapery Hardware

Rods, tracks and decorative finishes are part of the design. We consider the room, fabric weight, mounting and how you want your panels to open.

Ripplefold

Even, flowing waves create a clean profile along a compatible track. A good direction to explore when you prefer a simple, continuous drape.

Pinch Pleat

Gathered pleats create a structured heading with soft folds below. We help balance the fabric, fullness and hardware for the room.

Tailored Pleat

A neatly shaped heading gives the top of the panel a tailored finish. Compare it with other pleat styles to find the look that suits your fabric.

Fabrics, Hardware & Finishing Details

Start with the feeling you want in the room. Then compare the materials and finishes in your own light.

  • Fabrics & textures: explore sheers, soft neutrals, textured weaves and patterns.
  • Trims & edges: consider a subtle border or decorative detail that works with the fabric.
  • Rods & tracks: coordinate visible hardware or a discreet track with the room and operating style.
  • Fullness & lining: plan the folds, coverage and light control together.

Selections depend on the fabric, heading and hardware combination.

A room that feels considered

Plan How Your Drapery Hangs & Works

Custom curtains should do more than finish a window. We consider how you use the room and what you want to see, soften or screen.

Privacy & Light

Sheers soften incoming daylight; denser fabrics and linings can provide more privacy and light control. We discuss coverage, including gaps at the edges.

Proportion & Architecture

Panel length and hardware placement can frame tall windows, sliding doors and window bays while leaving room for the panels to stack.

Texture & Coordination

Connect fabrics with your furnishings, wall colors and flooring. Layer drapery with custom shades and blinds when the room needs both softness and flexibility.

Ease in everyday use

Motorized Drapery

A motorized track can open and close compatible drapery without pulling the panels by hand. We review the opening direction, fabric weight, track layout and power requirements with your design.

Control options and smart-home compatibility depend on the selected system.

Before we begin

Custom Drapery FAQ

How do I choose the right fabric for my drapery?

Start with the room, how you want to manage light and the amount of privacy you need. We compare fabric weight, texture, color and pattern alongside your furnishings, then consider lining and how the fabric will hang.

What do fullness and heading style mean?

Fullness describes how much fabric is used across the finished width, affecting the depth and number of folds. The heading is the way the top is shaped, such as ripplefold or a pleated style. We help select the combination for your fabric and room rather than applying one formula to every window.

Can decorative panels close across the window?

Decorative panels may be designed to stay at the sides and may not cover the full opening. If you want working drapery for privacy or light control, we plan the panel width, lining and operating hardware for that purpose.

Can sheers provide privacy at night?

Sheers soften light but generally offer limited privacy when the room is lit after dark. For greater privacy, consider a separate shade or an additional drapery layer. We can review the options during your consultation.

How do we choose rods or tracks?

We consider the heading style, fabric weight, window span, mounting surface and how you want to open the panels. Decorative rods can become part of the room’s design, while tracks can provide a more discreet appearance.

Do you measure and install the drapery?

Yes. Sun E Shades provides professional measuring and installation as part of the custom drapery process. You do not need final measurements before requesting a consultation.

Can my custom drapery be motorized?

Motorized tracks are available for compatible drapery designs. We review track configuration, fabric weight, power and control options before finalizing the selection. Explore motorization for more information.

Do you offer in-home consultations in South Florida?
