Shutters for Different Spaces

Our installations show how shutter panels can work with a single window, a bay or a glazed door. We review each opening before recommending a configuration.

Full-Height Window Panels

Panels cover the main window opening, with adjustable louvers to change the light and view. The frame and panel layout are planned for your window.

Bay-Window Shutters

Individual panels follow the layout of the bay. We consider the angles, adjoining frames and the clearance needed to open the panels.

Shutters for Glazed Doors

A door installation needs room for the handle and normal door movement. We assess the opening and hardware to determine a suitable fit.

Available configurations and details depend on the selected shutter and the conditions at your windows.

Made for everyday living

Privacy, Light & a Finished Look

Consider how you use each room, how the light changes during the day and how much of the view you want to keep.

Adjustable Privacy

Tilt the louvers to change the sightline through the window, or close them for more privacy. We help you consider the room and the views from outside.

Flexible Light Control

Adjust the louvers to let in daylight or reduce direct brightness. Shutters are not a complete blackout solution; some light can enter around the louvers and frame.

Structure & Everyday Use

Framed panels give the window a defined finish. We discuss durability and care alongside room conditions, material options and how often you will use the panels.

Planned Around Your Windows

We look beyond width and height to make sure the shutter layout works with your trim, room and daily routine.

  • Frames & mounting: review the existing trim, sill and depth of the opening before choosing a frame detail.
  • Panel layout: consider the number of panels, where they meet and how they open.
  • Louver appearance & control: compare the available look and operating details for your selected shutter.
  • Clearance: check handles, locks, furniture and nearby walls so the design accounts for everyday use.

We’ll confirm available frame profiles, finishes and specifications during your consultation.

Prefer a softer layer? Coordinate shutters with custom drapery, or compare shades and blinds for other rooms.

Helpful answers

Plantation Shutters FAQ

How do plantation shutters control light and privacy?

The louvers tilt to adjust the amount of light and the view through the window. Closing them provides more privacy, while opening the hinged panels can reveal more of the window. The best layout depends on your room and the opening.

Will plantation shutters make my room completely dark?

No. Shutters can reduce incoming light, but gaps around louvers and frames can still let light through. If strong room darkening is a priority, we can help you compare shade options or discuss a suitable layered treatment.

Can shutters work on bay windows or glass doors?

Our projects include bay-window and glazed-door installations. Suitability depends on the angles, handles, mounting area and space for movement. We inspect these details before recommending a configuration.

Can you fit shutters beneath an arched window?

One of our projects uses rectangular shutter panels below an uncovered arched transom. We can review your opening and discuss an appropriate layout. An arched opening does not automatically mean an arched shutter panel is available.

Which frame and panel style should I choose?

The existing trim, window depth, sill and nearby obstructions help determine the frame and panel arrangement. We review available profiles and operating details with you so the design works with both the window and the room.

Are plantation shutters suitable for bathrooms?

We have completed bathroom installations, but suitability depends on the selected material, ventilation and exposure to moisture. We will review the room and product guidance before making a recommendation.

How do I care for my shutters?

Follow the care instructions for the specific shutter material and finish. We can review those instructions with you, including suitable cleaning methods and how to operate the panels without forcing them.

Do you provide measuring and installation?

Yes. Sun E Shades provides professional measuring and installation as part of the custom shutter process. You do not need final measurements before requesting your complimentary consultation.
